Crafting Community: Culture, Innovation, and Dangle Beads
TankDangle started as a way to make art for paintball. Inspired by sacred objects, amulets, talismans, and hip hop the TankDangle is a stylish intention-enhancing objeckt used to align your will with your actions. The new TankDangle Bead continues these concepts only in a new form.
The Everyday Day Carry knife and pocket tool culture inspires the current TankDangle Bead form. The machining and artistry of crafting these beads paired with the high danglebility, aesthetic, and function made me super interested in this form.
I dove into research and found that beads have been used across the globe for spiritual purposes, like protection, prayer, and expressing cultural identity. People believed beads had special powers based on what they were made of and how they looked, using them in rituals, healing, and even fortune-telling. Today, beads still play a meaningful role in many cultures, connecting people to their spirituality, community, and heritage. TankDangle Bead continues these traditions within our paintball community.
In the first phase of this new form, we have conjured up high vibes and fused them with low cost. The new TankDangle Bead is a 3d printed bead with an energy coil on paracord. By the end of the year I’ll introduce cast metal as well as lathe turned wood and resin beads. The TankDangle Bead becomes a pathway for me to explore some new skills and deliver high-quality objects.
